anyone have any info on a Joseph Eastman? He gave out over 20,000 american names to the native americans. Does anyone know of where I could get a copy of the name changes

I would try typing his name in the google search engine and see what comes up. however, you are referring to the Wrong Eastman. It was his brother, Dr. Cahrles Alexander Eastman who conducted the project for the BIA. he worked on this project from@1903 to 1909. the closest I have come to finding anything regarding Translation of the Sioux Indian Names was at this web site: puffin.creighton.edu/lakota/biblio_total.htmloneof the items listed was tthe following: sioux Proper Names-South Dakota Historical Collections 6:275-278.
